13 Oct 2010 - 16:13:11

Celtic captain Scott Brown may not play again until the festive period because of a metatarsal injury.

It had previously been estimated that the 25-year-old former Hibernian midfielder would only be sidelined for six weeks.

However, a brief statement on the Bhoys' official website read: "Following a visit to see a specialist, it has been confirmed that Scott Brown will not require surgery on his injury.

"The Celtic captain has suffered a stress reaction in the third metatarsal on his right foot. However, with the extra rehabilitation work required, the midfielder is likely to be out for between eight to ten weeks.
